When a couple has been trying to conceive for a year and still has had no luck it may be time for them to seek out the advice of an infertility doctor. For many, they may feel more comfortable sticking with their own family doctor or a gynecologist, but for others they decide to turn to an infertility doctor that has special training in infertility as opposed to just the basic gynecological training.

An infertility doctor can also be a male infertility doctor. These physicians are called Reproductive Endocrinologists and they have had additional training that enables them to work with both males and females.

What is an Infertility Doctor?

Some of the physicians that run fertility clinics are not necessarily trained in the field of endocrinology. They are often gynecologist with an interest in infertility that has worked with many infertile couples. This doesn’t mean these doctors or clinics are not successful or the right place for an infertile couple but the doctor may not have the extended training that a Reproductive Endocrinologist has.

An infertility doctor that is also a Reproductive Endocrinologist has had the standard ob/gyn training as well as an additional two to three years training in Endocrinology. They have also taken both a written and an oral exam in order to become a trained Reproductive Endocrinologist.

This additional training allows them to specialize in the field of the Endocrine system that is based on hormones and the way they work. If a couple has discovered that both the man and woman have problems with their hormonal system and Reproductive Endocrinologist may be the type of doctor that they are looking for as they can both be treated at the same time by the same physician.

For other patients an infertility doctor may be one that is a gynecologist that has decided to work with infertile patients. They may have a large amount of work experience with patients and this may be the best route for many couples.

An infertility doctor is one that works primarily with infertile couples. This means they don’t deliver babies or conduct yearly exams. For many couples being in an environment that is dedicated to infertility is more comfortable for them. Couples will also find that the clinic is open seven days a week to allow for easy appointments and scheduling that works with when a woman is ovulating. Whatever type of infertility doctor that is selected, be sure to interview them to find out if this is the right place for you.

Infertility is more than a problem that needs to be handled by doctors because it also has certain social connotations to be concerned about as well, and anyone that is suffering from such a problem must first of all realize that they are not alone in fighting the battle against infertility. In fact, if you are among the estimated seven percent of couples experiencing infertility problems, you would do well to go and visit a fertility treatment center to get expert advice, proper diagnosis and proper treatment.

Most of the better fertility treatment centers around the globe are staffed with specialists who are dedicated to curing infertility and thus they can provide the benefit of years of knowledge and experience, and along with the best in diagnostic and therapeutic tools, can do a lot for affected couples.

Many women fail to get them checked for endometriosis which will then result in organs close to the uterus and fallopian tubes as well as ovaries becoming adversely affected and thus perhaps cause infertility in the couple, and for which only endometriosis infertility treatment in the form of laparoscopy can provide necessary correction.

Suitable Action Plan

Once you pay a visit to a fertility treatment center and have you diagnosed, the staff there will then assess your condition and chalk out a suitable action plan which will help deal with the causes of infertility and take into account the severity of the problem and the age of the affected person(s) as well as address the duration for which infertility has been causing concern.

Thus, as an individual you can be assured that the fertility treatment center will come up with a special plan to handle your case and to also educate you about infertility as well as teach you how to treat and cope with the consequences.

Some of the features to look for when it concerns fertility treatment center are ensuring that you will get total infertility evaluations done and to also be sure about facilities to perform endoscopic surgery, whenever required.

As far as total infertility evaluation is concerned, the fertility treatment center must be in a position to perform in-depth clinical examinations of the two partners and even do fertility hormone assay according to the circumstances of the partners. Another useful method that should be used is Trans vaginal scan of the female and also performing in-depth analysis of the semen of the male partner.

Endoscopic surgery (key-hole surgery) is another procedure that the fertility treatment center should be able to perform in which the internal organs that affect reproduction must be visualized and diseases or faults must then be rectified. If these features are available in a fertility treatment center, you can then consider it for getting you treated and if the costs are affordable you can then go ahead and have your problem sorted out.

Infertility is an issue for many couples around the world and some have even suggested that it affects at least one in four couples. Couples are told to try and conceive for at least a year, and this can be shocking for many who assume conception will happen immediately.

When looking at infertility there can be several different issues that couples face. Female infertility causes can range from hormonal problems to issues with fallopian tubes or endometriosis. Problems can also occur with males that include low sperm counts, sperm mobility problems or even the inability of the sperm to penetrate an egg, all of these issues must be ruled out in order for a doctor to determine the best course of action for a couple.

In order to find out what is the cause of the infertility, a physician will perform tests to find out what is happening. There is not just one female infertility test or male infertility test that can show what is occurring during the monthly cycle. These tests can take months to complete and this can be frustrating.

Since there can be many female infertility causes it can require some invasive tests to find out if the issue is a female problem. These tests can range from blood tests to having to have surgery and a woman needs to be prepared for the full range of testing to be done.

Some Female Infertility Causes

One of the first things when considering female infertility causes is looking at hormones. Hormones play an important part in fertility; they are responsible for producing and releasing the egg and then maintaining the uterus for conception. If any of these hormones are out of balance, this can be one of the female infertility causes that are interrupting conception.

A physician will run blood tests and watch hormone levels through out the month to determine if there is a breakdown in the hormones that is preventing conception. There are fertility drugs that can be used to enhance ovulation to help with conception if this is a concern.

Another of the female infertility causes has to do with problems with fallopian tubes or the uterus. Some women have structural problems where the uterus isn’t shaped properly or the fallopian tubes have been damaged due to endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease that has cause scar tissue to damage these organs. Surgery is needed to evaluate these conditions and if it is found that the damage is extensive, other option to conception may be suggested such as Invitro Fertilization where a woman’s eggs and sperm are placed in a petrie dish for conception to occur and the developing embryo is place back into the uterus.

Keep in mind it can take months to do all of the tests required to find the female infertility causes, treatments can also take time but the end goal of having a baby with today’s technology can be realized.

Many people consider infertility to be mainly a woman’s problem though this is not exactly true because as many as fifty percent of all infertility cases are those that are related to male infertility, and often when a male becomes infertile, it can make it impossible to conceive a child, and it can even add to the difficulties faced by a woman who is in the process of conceiving a child.

Don’t Procrastinate

Thus, getting a male fertility test is something that must be given due consideration and it is as important in the case of men as it is for women to be tested for infertility. However, many males actually procrastinate when it concerns getting a male fertility test done and the main reasons for putting off testing is the high costs involved as well as the discomfort of it all.

It can indeed be a very unpleasant shock to learn that as a male, you are unable to help a female conceive a child and that you are suffering from male infertility. In such a case, you will need to find out the reasons why the problem has occurred and thus you need to get professional help in order to determine the exact causes of male infertility.

That being said, by getting a male fertility test done, you can improve the chances of identifying the exact causes of male infertility and thus a suitable treatment can be arrived at and to help overcome these causes. The person that will perform a male fertility test is normally an urologist and your doctor will, after giving you a physical examination, do some analysis of your semen and then decide as to the quality and content of your sperm before proceeding with making a diagnosis.

To be sure, when getting a male fertility test done, you will have to provide a sample at the very place where the testing is being done as this will ensure that the analysis can be performed without unnecessary delay. So, don’t feel squeamish or sheepish about providing a sample because semen analysis is quite common and when results come in, you will start feeling relieved that the problem has been properly identified and proper treatment can then be prescribed.

Sometimes, the first semen analysis may not show up anything and thus, your doctor may order a second male fertility test in order to confirm the findings from the first test. The good news however is that in case you have to be tested twice, chances are you doesn’t really have an infertility problem.

When it comes to getting pregnant, it seems to go one of two ways for couples. The couples either find that they have no problem getting pregnant or they find that no matter what they do, they just cannot seem to get pregnant. Trying to have a baby is both an exciting time and an emotionally frustrating time depending on how it is all moving along. For those who are finding that they are having a little trouble getting pregnant, listening to some infertility tips is not a bad idea.

Whether these tips are coming from your doctor or from your mother, there is nothing wrong with listening to it all and trying it all out. After all, what else do you have to do other then try new things to get the desired results. You never know what will or will not work for you until you try it so do not ignore the infertility tips that friends and family give. Also, a great place for some more infertility tips and infertility faq is the Internet as there is an over abundance of information just sitting there waiting to be read.

Some Basic Tips To Consider

While some of the infertility tips that you may run across will sound completely crazy, try not to laugh as the person giving you this advice really does have your best interest in mind. Kindly say thank you and move on from there but never dismiss all infertility tips as there may be some good suggestions mixed into the batch. One of the biggest things that always seem to be suggested is that you not take the love making so serious. Relax, have fun, and make sure that you are not making it into a chore as many people feel that this will affect your chances of becoming pregnant.

And there may be something to that, as many couples tend to find that when they stop trying, they actually end up pregnant. Out of all of the infertility tips out there, this is one that is the most important as it will help you make sure that you do not become too upset or emotionally upset while trying to become pregnant. Also, infertility tips also suggest that you focus on making love during the five days before you ovulation, as this is the best time to get pregnant. If you do not know when this is, you can purchase a fairly cheap kit at your local drugstore, which can help you determine that time frame.

Discovering that there is an obstacle to conception is something that many couples discover daily. Infertility is the inability to conceive after a year of trying and for many couples they can be shocked to discover that they are now faced with this diagnosis.

For many couples, the cause of the infertility may have something to do with both partners, but in about 40% of the cases infertility in women is the issue.

Female infertility causes can range from hormonal problems to structural issues and a woman must endure many different tests in order to narrow down the list of possibilities. Infertility in women can be complicated and may involve several problems at the same time.

Infertility In Women: Some Possibilities

The process of ovulation is complex and is really a balancing act of hormones. Infertility in women can be caused when any of the hormones involved are off or are interrupted by other hormones.

One of the first tests that are used when doing an evaluation is a blood test to check on a woman’s hormones and other blood levels such as thyroid and prolactin levels. If the thyroid is not functioning properly a woman may not be ovulating and if prolactin levels are elevated, again this will interfere with ovulation so ruling out these possibilities is one of the first steps in looking at infertility in women.

If all of these blood tests come back normal, a woman may find that she still has a hormonal imbalance during the process of ovulation. Sometimes a woman will have problems with the hormone progesterone which is important during the second half of a cycle after ovulation. This hormone is important as it is present in the second half of a cycle, when conception takes place. Women who have early miscarriages often have low progesterone.

Infertility in women can also be caused by endometriosis. This condition affects many women and is not only an issue in infertility but also a painful chronic condition. In endometriosis, the endometrial lining of the uterus is found outside of the uterus. This tissue can cause scar tissue to develop and can adhere to organs throughout the pelvic cavity. The condition can not be diagnosed without surgery and the adhesions are difficult to remove and unfortunately most women find that even after surgery, the adhesions return.

In order to determine what is the cause of infertility, women must endure many different diagnostic tests. These can take months and most will discover it may be a combination of issues that must be dealt with.

Infertility in women can be complicated to treat, but for many conception will happen and they find that the entire struggle is worth it to have a baby.

Infertility can sometimes be a very complicated condition. The process of conception is based on a very fine balance of hormones, timing and almost perfect conditions. A combination of male and female infertility issues is often the underlying source of problems that prevent a couple from conceiving.

In order to discover what may be the issue that is preventing conception, couples have to be tested and evaluated. These tests can be invasive and sometimes even embarrassing for the couples to go through. Being prepared for what is part of a male and female infertility evaluation can help couples know what to expect.

Initial Male And Female Infertility Workup

When looking at the male and female infertility workup be prepared for a standard physical to be performed. This will include an evaluation of sexual history, past pregnancies and even what birth control has been used. During this part of the exam a physician will be looking at clues that may indicate fertility problems such as female infertility symptoms that may be something like irregular menstrual cycles.

The male and female infertility workup will also include a physical exam, that include a gynecological evaluation for the female and the male will also be looked at. In both cases the physician is looking for any outward signs of a physical problem that is impeding conception. For the male this may include a varicocele, which is an enlarged vein on the scrotum sack that may impede the production of sperm.

Blood tests will be run on the couple to look at hormone levels and any problems with the thyroid in either partner. The male will also be asked to give a sample for evaluation of the sperm. The woman will have further testing to look at her ovulatory cycle and the next step is often tests to determine if the fallopian tubes or uterus is damaged. This step usually requires surgery in order for the physician to get an up close look at the uterus and fallopian tubes. The surgery is usually done in an out patient basis and is not considered to invasive.

All of these tests help a physician evaluate the monthly cycle and what is occurring that is preventing conception. Often couples find that it is several problems that may be factors and it can be a relief to find out what is happening. In about 15% of couples an answer is not obvious and this can be very frustrating.

The male and female infertility workup can take several months to complete and can also be very stressful for the couple. Once testing is completed a path of treatment will be recommended and based on findings can be as simple as fertility drugs and inseminations to the more complex higher technologies that involve removing eggs and fertilizing them in a petrie dish and then putting the embryos back in the woman’s uterus.

Infertility is a surprise for most couples and can be a difficult time in their lives, but there are options available for couples to be successful in their pursuit of a child.

Among the many things in life that every woman looks forward to is the time when they give birth to a newborn baby and this is perhaps the most fulfilling moment in every woman’s life. However, there are, it is believed, approximately ten million American women that have a problem conceiving and so, this is a major problem for which something needs to be done.

The sad truth is that, it is believed, that one in every six couple that has reached the age of being able to conceive will be suffering from the learning that they are not able to have children on their own, even in spite of major advances in medical science. Such a condition is known as infertility and it is something that can shock any couple who learns that they have this problem.

Not Able To Conceive Even In Spite Of Repeated Attempts

If you are desperate to conceive a child, then infertility is the last thing that you would want to deal with, regardless of the fact that the world today is grappling with problems of over population and is promoting means of preventing pregnancies which are not absolutely necessary. To be sure, infertility is a condition in which a couple is unable to conceive even after repeated attempts at having a child for as long as a whole year or even more.

There is however ways and means of helping people out because with infertility treatments such as femara (Letrozole) available, there is still hope for a mother having an infertility problem.

Infertility is also referred to as not being able to carry through a pregnancy to its logical end i.e. nine months and if such a condition affects you as well, you would need to have to take an expensive and lengthy succession of tests known as ‘infertility work-ups’ that is aimed at identifying the exact reason why this problem occurs.

The only problem with undergoing such tests is that they can prove to be too costly and the time taken may be such that a couple may lack motivation in undergoing these tests and thus infertility has become a major issue amongst that segment of the population that is not financially too well off.

What’s worse is the fact that according to studies on this topic, it has been found that the condition will become worse rather than improve in the near and long term and in fact, infertility is also a big reason why many couples put off getting married and turn instead to immersing them in their careers in order to deal with the suffering caused by knowing that they have an issue with infertility.

Even though it may seem like defeat or an embarrassment to seek out infertility help, there is really nothing at all wrong with it as millions of couples have the same struggle as you. Seeking infertility help is not admitting that you have been defeated; it is simply another way to go about the fight to start the family you have always wanted to start. The main thing though is that this type of help is not generally covered by medical insurance companies so all costs will come directly out of your pocket.

Finding The Right Help

There are many options to pick from when it comes to infertility help so you, as a couple, along with your doctor will need to discuss which option is best for you. It does not have to do just with how long you have been trying or other factors, but also the cost. Remember, infertility help is not cheap and many people find themselves spending close to ten thousand dollars in the end and that does not even promise a pregnancy. The fact is, the conception help that doctors can offer is never a guarantee that you will end up with child, but it does give you better odds then not trying at all.

You will want to start with the doctor you already see and discuss with him or her your problems and your concerns. If they feel that they do not have what it takes to help you with your need for infertility help, they may be able to refer you to a doctor that can. Most of the time, referrals from the doctor you already see is the best way to go as they may know more about that doctor then you and may know that this particular doctor is one that you can trust and count on. And if that doctor and you do not seem to see eye to eye, you can always go to another doctor for your infertility help.

If you’ve been trying unsuccessfully to have a child, it can be devastating to both you and your partner. The thought never crossed your mind before, the fact that you may never be able to have children of your own, but hope is not lost. There are treatments for infertility that can help you and your partner have children of your own. They aren’t cheap; in fact, they can be downright expensive. If money is an issue, you should also know that there is infertility treatment insurance that can help you with the costs. What you first want to do is get tested, both you and your partner, to see which one of you has the problem. Then, talk to your doctor about the latest treatments for infertility, payment options, infertility treatment insurance, and ask your doctor to answer any questions you may have. You could end up having your own child and it may just be the result of the first treatment for infertility that you try.

Getting Tested

There are several reasons why you may be unable to have a child of your own. The man could have a low sperm count, the woman could have something wrong with egg production or her fallopian tubes, or it could be anything from low hormone production to a certain disease. These are the reasons you’ll want to get tested. It’s much easier for your doctor to prescribe the perfect treatment for infertility if he or she knows exactly what the problem is. So you’ll want to get tested first. Once you know the reason, the main thing is not to place blame. It’s not the man’s fault that you can’t have kids, just like it’s not the woman’s. It’s likely either one of you would change matters if you could. So don’t look to place blame, no matter who has the infertility problem. The main thing is to find a treatment for infertility that works.

Trying Various Options

If you don’t have a lot of money, you should definitely look for infertility treatment insurance to help you pay for the various treatments for infertility that you’ll be trying. It’s worth it to try every treatment you can until you find one that works for you. There are many treatments out there, and some work for some people but not for others, and your doctor should be able to determine which treatment for infertility is best for you based on your test results.

Natural Treatments

There are, of course, natural treatments for infertility that you can use. These are typically herbal supplements that you take to increase your chances of having your own children. They’re less expensive, they’re all natural and they just might be the treatment for infertility that you’ve been looking for. You might want to try these natural treatments first before you spend all your money on the latest pharmaceutical treatments.
